Gower Guitar Festival set to be the best yet!!!

Set in two locations on the beautiful Gower Peninsula, this year’s Gower Guitar Festival, now in its fourth year, again takes place over 2 days.

The first day, Saturday 28 July, is at the Gower Heritage Centre, where the Centre plays host to a number of acts ranging from Acoustic to Rock many of them producing their own material.

Local favorite, Ray “Taff” Williams, opens the day at 12.00noon with a mixture of old and new classics. Taff is followed by local singer/songwriter Dave Carter with Shadows tribute band Shaboogie taking the stage at 1.45 pm.
Greg Harper, a young electric guitarist in the style of Vai/Satriani precedes the guitar/violin duo of Russell Lloyd and Larry Richmond who play a blend of Sizzling Hot Latin, Jazz and Tango.
Acoustic guitarist John Dignam, still only 17, then entertains before Taff returns to end the afternoon.
After a short break the festival resumes at 6.00 pm with a fabulously fun trio of Acoustic Led Zeppelin followed by Canadian singer/songwriter Damian Etherington who now resides in Wales. We then have the return of the fantastic young acoustic guitarist Gareth Pearson who gave a jaw dropping performance at last year’s festival.
The show at the Heritage Centre concludes in style, as the nationally acclaimed acoustic guitarist John Goldie signs off the evening in unique fashion.

On Sunday 29 July, proceedings move to the splendid setting of the King Arthur Hotel in Reynoldston.

Set against the backdrop of the legendary Gower scenery, the King Arthur provides a perfect setting for a more acoustic based programme.

At 1pm, Gower Duo, The Hanging Baskets start the day, followed by Swansea based Dutch guitarist, Sylvia Barker De Boer, on Classical Guitar, and then Singer/songwriter Adrian Hughes who received rapturous applause at last years festival.

The centerpiece of Sunday is the appearance of the world famous flamenco fusion guitarist Eduardo Niebla. Eduardo has thrilled audiences throughout the world for many years, and his breathtaking technique incorporates facets of Jazz, Latin, and Eastern music, woven in with his native Spanish Flamenco. A combination to anticipate with relish!

The festival is rounded off in celebratory fashion in the bar with some rhythm and blues from Gary and Jinx.
