Gower Guitar Festival 2006, What's on! This year’s festival is even bigger and better than before. Now over 2 days, packed full of different styles of guitar music and workshops. Day I is still at the Gower Heritage Center. The main performance area in the courtyard will start with Gypsy Jazz, now regular performers at the Gower Guitar Festival, they will be followed by a number of local accomplished guitarists, such as the Hanging Baskets, Jefferson Moore, Terry Thomas, Russell Lloyd, Shaboogie and Acoustic Led Zeppelin with Carey Beor, Keith Floyd & Mal Gray. During the afternoon, still on the main stage we have the New and Young Talent section. This was introduced last year where we saw “Gareth Pearson”. Gareth, now in high demand, is now supporting guitarists such as Tommy Emanuel will be joining us for a full performance on day 2 at the King Arthur Hotel. In the New and Young Talent section this year we have Hippi Kiss, Adrian Hughes, Nick Dwyer, Greg Harper and John Dignam. Not forgetting the informal playing area in the front courtyard, which was a huge success last year. The festival has several aims, but one its main aims is to encourage guitar playing so this year there will be 3 guitar workshops –
All the workshops will be in Parkmill Chapel on Saturday the 22nd of July. Click the “workshop” to see full details. Booking is advised, as space will be limited. So bring your guitar along and join in and if you don’t play go along, watch and be inspired. Evening performances will include Pete Smith and John Buckley, Zoe McCulloch, Kevin Brown and Tristan Seume. So the evening is set to be fun and relaxing. Click the performers for details. Sunday the 23rd July is at a fantastic new venue, the King Arthur Hotel. This year we have back by popular demand Clive Carroll and Gareth Pearson. Matt Cook a local guitarist and singer songwriter will also be joining them. Finishing off the day and the festival will be Gary Pickford-Hopkins & Steve "Jinx" Jenkins with lively rhythm and blues.
Camping!!! As the festival is over 2 days this year some of you have requested details of where to camp. Nicholaston Farm Camp Site will keep a section of their site for us to stay in. See attached link for details on how to book camping. This will be direct with the camp site just let them know you are going to the festival. Sorry haven't arranged any discounts.
So come along and join in!!!
